THE CPI(ML) organized a protest meeting at Kanai in Bhojpur on 15 June 2019 against increasing attacks by dominant caste goons backed by the BJP, during and since the Lok Sabha elections. Hundreds of people from Kanai and neighbouring villages attended the meeting and raised slogans and red flags. During the Lok Sabha election BJP-supported goons attacked the poor and dalits at various places and prevented them from casting their vote: no action against these criminals has been taken so far. The meeting at Kanai is the first of a series of such meetings planned by the CPIML.
Comrades Raju Yadav, Manoj Manzil and other ML leaders addressed the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Ramnath Ram and conducted by Kailash Pathak. After the meeting which demanded the arrest of the criminals, people returning from the meeting were attacked at many places by BJP-backed goons. These criminals, from dominant castes, fired 30 rounds - in the presence of the police - at Kanai. People from Pasaur were surrounded on the road and brutally beaten, causing head injuries to Shambhu Sah (41), Bhikhari Sah (40) and a youth from Kasmariya. All the injured have been admitted to Charpokhri Government Hospital.
