ABOUT 100 workers worked for 21 days under MNREGA in Baruin village, Jamania Block, Ghazipur District, but their attendance was not recorded. Agrarian worker leader Doman Vanvasi sat on an indefinite hunger strike against this from 28 June 2020 at the work site. On the same day the Jamania BDO came to the spot and attempted to make him end the hunger strike. But the people stood firm in their demand for new job cards and attendance. The police then came to the site and tried to pressurize the people to leave, but the workers refused to budge.

On 29 June the Block office personnel arrived and started preparing the new job cards. They also said that attendance would be recorded. As the workers stood firm and refused to bend, the administration was forced to announce that the demands of the workers would be met. After this announcement was made, the hunger strike was called off.
