A State level conference was organized on 30 July in Deshbhakt Yaadgar Hall, Jalandhar, Punjab to demand withdrawal of the ban on political and public activities and release of incarcerated political activists, thinkers and intellectuals. The conference was presided over by CPIML leader Rajvinder Rana, Prithvipal Mairimegha (CPI), Ajmer Singh (New Democracy) and Pargat Singh Jamrai (RMPI). The proceedings were conducted by CPIML State Secretary Gurmeet Singh Bakhtpur. The conference was addressed by Ajay Malhotra (Lok Sangram Manch), Bant Brar (CPI), Darshan Khatkar (new Democracy), Mangat Ram Pasla (RMPI), Kanwaljeet Khanna (Krantikari Kendra) and Kiranjeet Sekhon (MCPI).

The following resolutions were passed through the conference:

  1. Release intellectuals, journalists, democratic activists and political leaders arrested under the undeclared emergency in the name of the Corona pandemic, and withdraw all false cases against them.
  2. The conference expressed support for and solidarity with the call for the general strike by trade unions and 200 farmers’ organizations on 9 August, the Quit India Movement anniversary.
  3. Revoke the undeclared emergency on meetings to protest against government policies.
