Tributes were paid on 5 August 2020 at the CPIML State office in Patna as well as other offices to observe the memorial day of two leaders: Friedrich Engels, the great teacher and guide for the freedom of the world’s proletariat and Karl Marx’s lifelong friend and collaborator in the birth and development of Marxism; and Saroj Dutta, one of CPIML’s founder leaders.

Present at the memorial meeting were Bihar State Secretary Kunal, Legislative Party leader Mahboob Alam, Saroj Chaube, Umesh Singh and other leaders.

Tributes were paid to Friedrich Engels and Comrade Saroj Dutta at the CPIML Arwal office where State Committee member Ravindra Yadav, HQ leader Vijay Yadav, District Committee member Raj Narayan, Ward Councilor Manoj Yadav and other Party members were present.

The leaders who spoke on the occasion reminisced that this was the 125th death anniversary of Engels, who died in London on 5 August 1895. On Engels’ death Comrade Lenin had recited two lines of a poem, “What a torch of reason ceased to burn! What a heart has ceased to beat”!

Engels was an unmatched scholar and teacher of the world’s proletariat. Marx and Engels showed the world that liberation of the human race from the clutches of oppressors can be achieved not through the efforts of a few well-meaning liberal people but only through the struggles of an organized proletariat. First and foremost, Marx and Engels made it clear in their writings that socialism is not the imagination of visionaries; rather, it is the ultimate goal and essential result of the development of productive forces in modern society. All written history till date has been the history of class struggle and a series of domination by certain social classes over other classes, and this will continue until the foundations of class struggle and class domination—private ownership and anarchy in social production—are not annihilated. The interest of the proletariat demands the destruction of these foundations. Therefore, the conscious class struggle of organized workers should be aimed against these foundations.

5 August is also the martyrdom day of Comrade Saroj Dutta, one of the founder leaders of the CPIML. Comrade Saroj Dutta was an unparalleled revolutionary whose entire life was devoted to the work of revolution. Comrade Saroj Dutta like a true people’s leader embraced death with the courage of the brave. His revolutionary dedication is an inspiration and model for today’s youth.
