Uttar Pradesh: The CPI(ML) and Nirman Mazdoor Union organized a meeting at Labour Adda, Engineering College Chowk, Lucknow. Speakers addressing the meeting called on the people to strengthen the struggles against the all-round fascist attacks on the working class and oust the Modi government. A rally starting from the CPI(ML) office was taken out at Gorakhpur led by District Secretary Com. Rajesh Sahni. The rally culminated at the office of the Zonal Commissioner raising slogans against privatization, for regular year-long work in MNREGA and minimum Rs 692 wages. A memorandum was submitted to the President through the Commissioner.
In Allahabad a meeting was organized at the NC Railway Choral Club by AICCTU and NCRWU. The meeting was addressed by CPI(ML) Politburo member Com. Ramji Rai and other speakers. Later in the evening the May Day Celebration Committee organized a programme at Subhash Chouraha Civil Lines followed by a Kavi Sammelan.

Rallies and meetings were organized at Mirzapur and Varanasi led by comrades Sudhakar Yadav and Manish Sharma respectively. A workers’ meeting was organized at Kanpur in front of the army uniform manufacturing factory. At Chandauli hundreds of people participated in a Jan Adhikar Sammelan on May Day. A rally was taken out at Ghazipur starting from the Party office and culminating in a meeting at the Labour Office. The workers’ organization associated with the CPI(M) also joined in this rally.

In Maharajganj district rally was organized at Nagar Panchayat Nichlol culminating in a dharna at the Tehsil office. A 10 point charter of demands was submitted to the President through the Nichlol SDM.

Marches were also taken out at Robertsganj (Sonbhadra), Ballia, Devariya, Sitapur, Paliya (Kheeri), Moradabad and other cities. At Mathura the CPI and CPI(ML) organized a joint meeting to observe May Day. A dharna and meeting were held at Banda. The CPI(ML) office at Rae Bareli was inaugurated on the occasion of May Day.

RYA organized a motorcycle rally on 1 May at Faizabad city. In Faizabad district ,the Nirman Mazdoor Union organized a rally and meeting at Maya Block and AIARLA organized a workers’ dialogue at the Press Club. An Anganwadi workers’ meeting was held at Gonda addressed by leaders from CPI(ML) and other organizations.

Puducherry: On May Day, CPI(ML) and AICCTU flags were hoisted at various places, party offices and at factory gates In Puducherry. In the evening a May Day Rally was taken out with a call ‘Let the working class rise as opposition party against anti-labour and anti-people Congress Government of Puducherry. The slogans thunderously raised in the rally included- ‘Fight for eight hours work with a minimum wage of Rs.21,000/- p.m’, ‘Oust Modi, Go back Bedi’. A large number of workers took part in the rally. The rally was led by Comrades S. Purushothaman, State secretary AICCTU, and S. Balasubramanain, State Secretary CPI(ML). Com. S. Motilal, Vice President AICCTU addressed the workers and the Cadres at the culmination of the rally.

Tamil Nadu: May day was also observed at various working-class centres. A mass rally and a public meeting were held at Sriperumpudur, Chennai, jointly by AICCTU and RYA as part of the "India demands employment" programme. The speakers included Com. Kumarasamy, All India President of AICCTU and also a PB member of CPI(ML). The rally was attended by workers of AICCTU affiliated unions and other unorganised automobile sector workers including trainees organised under the banners of RYA and AICCTU. In Coimbatore, Pricol workers hoisted red flags at Plant 1 and Plant 3. Workers of LGB Rolon who are on warpath for more than 100 days observed May day with flag hoisting and pledged their resolve to continue the movement against victimisation and for recognition of their union. May Day events were also organised at Government Hospital Dharmapuri by its contract employees. Water board contract workers at Trichy, power-loom workers at Namakkal, Beedi workers at Tirunelveli, Container lorry drivers at Tuticorin also participated in May Day programmes. May Day was also observed by workers in Co-optex, civil supplies and EB. AIARLA too organised flag hoisting events in rural areas of Pudukottai, Vilupuram, Madurai, Cuddalore and Nagapattinam districts. They also participated in village panchayat meeting convened by government as part of "meet the people " programme. Issues of rural workers such as NRGEA were raised in the meetings by AIARLA. Kanyakumari district AICCTU organised a Hall meeting on that occasion.

Odisha: Programmes were organised giving the call to fight against the communal fascism and to secure social justice for the working and oppressed classes. May Day rally was organised from Rajghat overbridge to Apartibindha Traffic Chhak, culminating into a public meeting at Bhadrak. Rally and meeting was also organised in Rayagada district. The motor union in Gunupur also organised a May Day rally.

Karnataka: May Day rally was organised in Mangalore by AICCTU. Com. Shankar, Com. Divakar, Com. Sathish, District President, and other leaders addressed the rallyists at Mangalore along with Advocate Sarfaraz. In Bangalore May day rallies were organised in KR Puram, Kengeriand, Yeshwanthapura constituency by AICCTU and CPI(ML). The rally in Yeshwanthapura was addressed by Comrades Balan, State President, Maitreyi, State GS of AICCTU, and Nirmala, the CPI(ML) candidate for assembly elections from Yeshwanthapura constituency. The rally in Kengeri was addressed by Comrades Rati Rao, All India President of AIPWA, Nagaraj, KSRTC union leader and Prakash from Samakaleena Vedike. Comrades Clifton, State Secretary of CPI(ML) and Appanna, CPI(ML) candidate from KR Puram addressed the rallyists at KR Puram.

A massive Jan sabha was organised by AICCTU and its affiliated unions at Railway goods godown in Mansa, Punjab on May Day. In Andhra Pradesh, the May Day programmes were organised in Yeleswaram, East Godavari district, Vishakhapatnam, Amravathi, Mangalagiri and Duggirala. In Telangana, the May Day programme was held at Uppal, Hyderabad City. The programme was led by state leading team secretary Com. Rajesh and AICCTU state convenor Com. Ramanna.
