CPIML organised a road blockade on 12 February in protest after two youngsters were killed in an accident when they went to the Sone river at Mehadichak village in Agiaon block of Bhojpur on 11 February after a Puja. Due to illegal mining with heavy earth-movers the river which used to be shallow in this season has got innumerable deep holes inside which can be prove fatal to anybody. The CPIML holds Bihar government and Bhojpur administration solely responsible for these deaths and has demanded action against mining nexus and compensation to the aggrieved families.

Hundreds of people kept Ara-Arwal highway jammed whole day in protest after the deaths of Dilip Kushwaha, a 10th standard student and Ritesh Kushwaha, 12th standard students. The dead body of Ritesh is yet to be recovered from the river. The boys were killed because that portion of river was unexpectedly deep at the spot. CPIML leader Manoj Manzil has demanded expert divers to search for the body of Ritesh.

The local BDO and CO appeared at the spot after five hours who were gheraoed and forced to commit to take action against the sand mafia. They also assured to send divers and to issue a compensation amount of Rs. 10 Lakhs to the victimised families and one job each to them.

CPIML has demanded to give mining permission only after all the formalities are completed regarding conduct of Sand Banks and Environmental Clearances etc.
