TWO girls disappeared from their hostel in Saraiya Kasturba Residential School in Shahpur of Bhojpur in Bihar. This has been accused that the girls have absconded after harassment and exploitation by the Hostel warden. The Shahpur BDO and thana in charge reached to the spot after the villagers informed this incident to them. Villagers who sheltered those girls for sometime have suspected that the girls were forcibly subjected to sexual exploitation which led to their disappearance.

A CPIML team led by Manoj Manzil visited the school and hostel on 7 July. They found that the school and hostel both lack very basic amenities while the hosteller girls were also forced to do cleaning and other work in absence of any cleaning staff. There was not even a woman security guard for the hostel. After this disappearance most of the parents have taken their daughters back home. The hostel is meant for 100 girls. The team found that local people suspect role of the village Mukhiya behind this incident. Some of the hostellers told that unauthorised men along with two women used to visit hostel in nights. The school coordinator when asked tried to evade such questions.

The CPIML has demanded action against the Mukhiya and other school officials on the basis of statements of the girl students, while a protest has been announced for 11 July against this incident. Manoj Manzil also informed one more recent incident in the Kasturba School of Charpokhari where a girl was murdered but no perpetrators have been caught yet.
