AISA and RYA organized a student protest march on 19 August 2019 in Jagdishpur against the eviction of students from the Student Credit Card Scheme. The march started from the CPIML office at Jagdishpur Kotwali and proceeded through the main market to Veer Kunwar Singh Fort Gate where it culminated in a meeting.

Addressing the meeting, RYA State President Ajit Kushwaha said that the Nitish government has betrayed the students of Bihar. First, they had promised to give Rs 4 lakhs as loan under the Student Credit Card Scheme (part of 7 fixed schemes) to all students in Bihar. But when students across Bihar started applying for loans, Nitish Kumar changed the Scheme. Earlier, this Scheme was the same for all students but this year in July the government suddenly changed the rules and decided that only students registered in colleges with grading from NAAC would get the benefit of the Student Credit Card Scheme. The reality is that there are very few or no colleges in Bihar that are NAAC accredited with Grade B. The same is the case in States like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab. All said, this policy is a conspiracy to deprive the common students of the benefit of this Scheme. About 75,000 students will be affected because of this sudden change of rules in this Scheme. These are the students who have already registered their names before this decision by the government.

AISA Block President Shahnawaz Khan and Secretary Kamlesh Kumar Singh said that we are fighting this decision of the government everywhere, from the streets to the court. The Patna High Court has for the present stayed this decision of the government. The next hearing is fixed for 5 September, but we want that the government should cancel this decision and make arrangements for easy loans for all students.
