THE 10th anniversary of Comrade Ibnul Hasan Basru was observed on 29 September 2019 at the Jamua Party office. The program started with garlanding of a life-size statue of Basru Ji and two minutes’ silence. Addressing the meeting, Block Secretary Vijay Pandey said that Basru Ji had led a strong people’s movement by the Left against feudal forces in Jamua when it was part of undivided Bihar due to which the Left won the Jamua Assembly seat. Later the CPIML gained strength in Giridih District and, influenced greatly by Comrade Mahendra Singh, Basru Ji joined the Party in November 2001. He played an important role in building and expanding the movement in the entire area. He was a member of the Central Committee of the CPIML when he died on 29 September 2009 during treatment for cancer at AIIMS. Comrade Usman Ansari said that we can learn a lot from Basru Ji’s life and take the Party to new heights by following in his footsteps. The meeting was also addressed by Asgar Ali, Reet Lal Verma, Soren Roy, Lalan Yadav, Babul al Mandal, Virendra Verma, Bhola Paswan, Vikas Paswan and others.
