manju

COMRADE Manju Devi was remembered on her 16th martyrdom day on November 10 in Karpi, Jehanabad. Large number of people assembled at the memorial of comrade Manju and paid her floral tributes. After two minutes’ silence in memory of the martyrs the memorial meeting was addressed by CPIML senior leader and district secretary Mahanand, Ravindra Yadav, Mithilesh Yadav and others.

deviComrade Manju Devi was a dedicated fighter and leader of the masses who always stood for the oppressed sections against the oppressive feudals in Jehanabad and Arwal. Comrade Mahanand said that her extreme popularity among poor of the district instilled fear in oppressors and this was the reason that Ranvir Sena cowards killed her in broad daylight sixteen years ago. But the people still stood firm to defend her ideals and deeds and to realise her dream of total transformation of society into the one which will be equitable, egalitarian and free of all kinds of oppression. She fought for and sacrificed her life for the cause of women, dalits, minorities and all oppressed people. Today when rightward regressive forces are trying to disrupt the harmonious fabric of our society, her absence is being felt by all of us, but at the same time her memories are strengthening our resolve to fight such forces to take her dream forward.
