THE Modi government has given the police unchecked powers to crush and silence peaceful protesters and has declared war on the Constitution and democracy through CAA-NRC-NPR and a state of serial Emergency.

Nitish Ji claims to protect the Constitution and secular values but this claim has been thoroughly exposed. Nitish Kumar must take the initiative and pass a resolution against implementation of CAA-NRC-NPR in Bihar. Protesters in Bihar are being subjected to brutal repression on the lines of Uttar Pradesh. The incidents at Aurangabad and Phulwarisharif are burning examples of this. Homes of minorities have been vandalized and looted and false cases have been slapped on peaceful protesters. We demand action against the guilty police personnel and immediate withdrawal of the false cases.

The ‘Save the Constitution’ campaign called by Left parties will begin on 25 January with human chains and will continue for a month. Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali scheme in Bihar is nothing but a deception to evict the poor from government lands on which they have been settled for many years. It is worth remembering Nitish’s human chain in support of prohibition, whereas today everyone is aware how much the liquor mafia has flourished.

Nitish talks of environment conservation but his policies are exactly the opposite. The Surangabad cement factory has license to make full and free use of ground water; harmful asbestos factories are being opened across Bihar. On the other hand, poor families settled for years on ahar-pokhar-chaur lands are being evicted without alternative arrangements. Thousands of dalits and poor have been issued eviction notices in Bhojpur and Western Champaran. CPIML opposes and protests against this vociferously. A Vidhan Sabha march will be held in Patna on 25 February and the JDU-BJP government will be gheraoed.
