Comrade Pradeep Banerjee

Comrade Rana (Pradeep Banerjee), former Central Committee Member of CPIML passed away on 4 August in Siliguri. He was suffering from cardiac and other ailments for quite some time. He was one of those comrades from Durgapur steelworkers batch who sacrificed their homes and hearths to jump into the revolution in the beginning of 1970s. He played a key role in the post-reorganisation development of the Party in West Bengal. He visited Naxalbari in 2017 to attend 50th anniversary commemorative programme in Siliguri.

Comrade Meena Rao

Comrade Meena Rao passed away on 2 August 2020 in Kandagiri of Rayagada district in Odisha. A militant fighter and leader of the masses, he was Branch Secretary in his village in Padampur Block. Comrade Meena Rao led and conducted consistent struggles for the landless peasants and adivasis in his area since 2000. He had been jailed many a times by the state for his unwavering commitment for the poor. We express our heartfelt condolences and pledge to carry forward the struggles and spirit of Comrade Meena Rao.

Comrade Satyanarayan Singh

Communist Party of India (CPI) Bihar State Secretary Comrade Satyanarayan Singh died of Covid on the night of 2 August 2020. His death is an irreparable loss to the struggles of workers and farmers and to the Left movement.

Among the CPIML leaders who paid tribute to Comrade Satyanarayan Singh were State Secretary Kunal, PB member Dhirendra Jha, KD Yadav, former MLA Rajaram Singh, Legislative Party leader Mahboob Alam, MLAs Satyadev Ram and Sudama Prasad, former MP Rameshwar Prasad and others.

A condolence meeting was held at the CPIML Bihar State office, attended by State Secretary Kunal, BB Pandey, Saroj Chaube, Umesh Singh, Pradeep Jha, Prakash Kumar, Sunil Kumar and others.

Comrade Kunal termed it a great loss to the Left movement. The spread of Corona is increasing consistently but the Bihar government continues to remain callous, and the entire state is paying for this insensitivity. He said that Satyanarayan Singh was a leader who emerged from the land movement and he played a big role in strengthening the Left movement in Bihar. He also played a big role in building Left unity in Bihar in recent years.

Tributes were also paid to the departed Comrade at various districts including Jehanabad, Biharsharif, Beguserai, Gaya, Bhojpur, Siwan, Muzaffarpur and Darbhanga.

The CPIML stands with his grief-stricken family in this hour of sorrow.
