Massacre in Gopalganj

JP Yadav and his family faced a murderous attack by the BJP-JDU protected feudal-criminal Pandey gang on 24 May at Hathua Block in Gopalganj District. The mafia don Satish Pandey explicitly linked with communal Hindutva elements, Amarendra Pandey alias Pappu Pandey who is JDU MLA from Kuchaykot and Satish Pandey’s son Mukesh Pandey a Zilla Panchayat member are involved in this incident.

JP Yadav is badly injured while three of his family members died in this brutal massacre. His 68 year old father Mahesh Yadav and 65 year old mother Sankeshiya Devi were killed on the spot while his 32 year old brother Sonu Yadav died on the way to hospital. JP Yadav is presently being treated at PMCH and his condition is said to be serious. JP Yadav has been associated with the CPIML but has not been active for a long time.

The CPIML has said that under Nitish Kumar’s much hyped ‘good governance’ the entire Gopalganj District has come into the clutches of the Pandey gang, who are openly supported by the BJP-JDU. These killings are protected by the state machinery. Similar situation prevails in other districts too. The CPIML and CPM held a protest on 26 May at Gopalganj district headquarters against this brutal massacre and demanded effective action without delay.

Arrest Strongman JDU MLA

Bihar State Secretary Kunal and other senior party leaders met JP Yadav at PMCH and consoled him. He said that Nitish Kumar’s party is full of strongmen and feudal criminals whose morale is even higher under the excuse of Covid19 and Lockdown. The Pandey gang today holds the entire Gopalganj in its thrall of terror. If there is even the slightest shred of morality left in Nitish Kumar, he should recommend to the Speaker to end his Assembly membership, and direct the police-administration to immediately arrest him.

Earlier on 26 May, CPIML and CPM organized a District wide protest in Gopalganj with the above demands. Both parties demanded the intervention of the DIG for the arrest of all accused persons in the Rupanchak massacre and criticized the strong criminal-police-administration nexus in District leading to uncontrolled and rampant crimes.

MLA Satyadev Ram writes to Bihar Assembly Speaker

MLA Satyadev Ram submitted a letter to the Speaker of the Assembly Vijay Kumar Chaudhury after meeting him with the request to cancel the Assembly membership of JDU MLA from Kuchaykot strongman Pappu Pandey @ Amrendra Pandey.

In his letter Satyadev Ram said that the brutal massacre at Rupanchak in Gopalganj on 24 May once again proves that the government today has no control over the law and order situation in the State and the murderous dance of strongmen and criminals continues unchecked.

What causes gravest concern is that the allegation of being the chief conspirator of the Rupanchak massacre lies on JDU MLA from Kuchaykot Amarendra Pandey alias Pappu Pandey who is known for his strongman image. BJP and JDU are full of such leaders and MLAs.

Such heinous crimes cannot be brushed aside at any cost. Therefore, Speaker of the Assembly must take initiative to cancel the Assembly membership of strongman MLA Amrendra Pandey so that criminal tendencies in politics and society can be checked.

CPIML organized protests in all districts in Bihar on 31 May against the Rupanchak massacre of Gopalganj and demanded immediate dismissal of chief conspirator JDU MLA strongman Amarendra Pandy from the Bihar Assembly and his arrest without delay. Party has asked Bihar government to establish a police camp in the village for the safety of victim families.

CPIML Bihar State Secretary Kunal, AIPWA General Secretary Meena Tiwari along with many leaders protested in Patna, MLAs Satyadev Ram, Sudama Prasad and Mahboob Alam sat on dharna at Siwan, Ara and Katihar respectively.

Dhirendra Jha, Politburo member of CPIML, expressed grave concern over the rising graph of crime in Bihar. He said that the morale of feudal-criminals is high and they feel confident of perpetrating crimes and massacres, while Lockdown comes to their defense as they are being consistently protected by BJP-JDU. The Rupanchak massacre is a BJP-JDU sponsored massacre.

Dharnas were held at the Gopalganj, various Block offices and many villages in the District. Protests at the District office were led by District Secretary Indrajit Chaurasiya who pointed out that JDU Hathua MLA and Social Welfare Minister had not even gone to meet the victims so far whereas he has close relations with the perpetrators.

Protests in capital Patna also held at Kankarbagh, Digha, Lalu Nagar and Mandiri. At Bhojpur, protest was observed at Gandhi Tola, Bhopatpur, Durjanchak, Manikpur, Jamalpur and other villages in Koilvar. CPIML leader Manoj Manzil sat on dharna at Gadhani. Protests were also held at Jehanabad, Arwal, Darbhanga, Gaya, Nalanda, Nawada, Rohtas, Bhagalpur, Siwan, Champaran, Vaishali, Muzaffarpur and other Districts.

The demands of the protest included arrest of MLA Amarendra Pandey; Rs 1 crore compensation to the victims of the massacre; and immediate establishment of a police camp in the village.

Comrade Kunal said that BJP-JDU MLAs have got free license to perpetrate massacres but those who protest against the massacre are having cases slapped on them. If Nitish Ji has even a shred of moral fibre left in him, he should first of all expel Amarendra Pandey from the Party and cancel his Assembly membership. But he will not do so because at present the entire Bihar is in the clutches of feudal-criminals and the narrative of ‘sushasan’ (good governance) lies thoroughly exposed. BJP-JDU should be ashamed that their MLA and killers nurtured by them are murdering people even in this time of grave crisis when people are struggling with extreme poverty and starvation.

Cases slapped on those who went to console Victims of the Massacre

Kunal said that a Party delegation had visited Rupanchak on 29 May and met the victims of the massacre. Today we have come to know that the administration has slapped cases on our MLA Satyadev Ram, former MLA Amarnath Yadav and others who had gone to visit the victims. Earlier, cases had been slapped against Tejasvi Yadav and other RJD leaders. CPIML has condemned the slapping of cases in the name of violating Lockdown rules against Leader of the Opposition Tejasvi Yadav and many other RJD leaders. This is repression under the excuse of Lockdown. We have come to know that feudal-criminals had organized a road block in defence of the killers. No case has been registered against theme, but cases have been slapped on those who went to console the victims. Criminals do not hesitate to do massacres, but those who oppose the massacres are being punished with cases against them. This action by the government is extremely condemnable.

CPIML Leaders visits Rupanchak

A high level CPIML delegation visited Rupanchak village in Hathua Block, Gopalganj District on 29 May where on 24 May the brutal massacre was perpetrated. The CPIML leaders met the villagers and relatives of JP Yadav who somehow survived the massacre. A condolence meeting was held at the village for those killed in the massacre. The villagers showed the team the spots where bloodstains are still visible, and also the deep bullet marks on the wall. Team comprised of Kunal, Dhirendra Jha, Darauli MLA Satyadev Ram, former MLA Amarnath Yadav, Naeemuddin Ansari, Gopalganj District Secretary Indrajit Chaurasiya and Jitendra Ram.

The team said that this is clearly a massacre perpetrated by feudal criminals protected by BJP-JDU. The leaders condemned the stopping of RJD leader Tejaswi Yadav who was on his way to visit Gopalganj in this regard as an anti-democratic act and cautioned BJP-JDU that they should take action against the strongmen MLAs in their Parties instead of doing such anti-democratic acts.

While the government does not want to take heed, the CPIML has called for a united opposition to intensify the struggle against massacre. The villagers are fearful that such acts of terror will be repeated, but the government and District administration have not established a police camp there yet. The party has demanded to establish a police camp without delay in the village.
