Statewide Protests in Jharkhand against Horse-Trading of MLAs

The entire state of Jharkhand is reeling under severe drought, but it is raining cash on MLAs! The horse trading game has been going on in the state ever since its formation. In addition to using the ED against the government, the BJP wants to turn this state into a hub for politics of horse trading. A few days ago lakhs of rupees were found at Howrah in the vehicles of 3 Jharkhand MLAs including Jamtada MLA Irfan Ansari. This clearly shows that the people's mandate is being sold openly in the market. The BJP wants to buy MLAs and grab power. CPIML organized statewide protests in Jharkhand on 5 August against this dastardly act. CPIML MLA Vinod Singh has demanded a probe into the horse trading and strict action against the guilty persons.

A protest was organized in the capital Ranchi on 5 August at Albert Ekka Chowk. Large numbers of people raised slogans against MLAs betraying the people's mandate and the BJP's conspiracy to topple the government. Present at the protest were party state committee member Bhuneshwar Kewat, City Secretary Nandita Bhattacharya, labour leader Bhim Sahu, AIPWA leader Eti Tirkey, Adivasi Sangharsh Morcha leader Sudama Khalkho and other leaders.

A protest march was organized in Ramgarh led by District Secretary Bhuneshwar Bedia, Devkinandan Bedia, Hira Gope and others. Protest marches and meetings were also organized at Giridih, Bokaro and Sadam. Activists roundly condemned the BJP's conspiracy to buy MLAs and grab power through the back door.
