against Corruption in Higher Education Commission

Applicants for posts in higher education department protested on 5 September against the rampant corruption in the Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Service Commission. A large number of people marched to the Commission offices and submitted a memorandum to the Governor via the Secretary of the Commission. The protest resonated with slogans demanding ending of corruption, high level enquiry into Advertisement No. 50, employment for youth, and accountability from the Yogi government.

Leading the protest, RYA State Secretary Sunil Maurya said that rampant corruption is evident in Advertisement No. 50. Many of the questions are flawed; question no. 19 in Math has been deleted; answer to Q 78 was found in Q 81; similarly in Political Science, toppers' 92 answers of 95 questions are correct, whereas after correction 95 answers should have been correct. Similarly the results of Education, English, B.Ed, Sanskrit, Geography, Chemistry, Sociology, Physics etc cannot be ignored. The government talks of corruption-free and transparent exams and recruitment but corruption is glaringly obvious in the Commission's primary teacher recruitment, enabling people to get jobs through bribing but cheating the hard-working student. There is widespread anger among students against this and the movement for corruption-free transparent recruitment shall be carried forward and intensified.

Higher Education Competitive Exam Candidates Front co-convener Vijay Sharma said that if the Commission does not agree to a high level enquiry within a week, we will meet the Chief Minister and organize a mass protest on 17 September at the Prayagraj Collectorate.
