Sankalp Sabha in Siwan On The Martyrdom Day of Comrades Chandrashekhar and Shyamnarayan
SANKALP Sabhas were organized on 31 March 2019 in memory of the martyrdom day of martyrs Comrade Chandrashekhar and Comrade Shyamnarayan Yadav at Comrade Shyamnarayan’s village Thepha (Jeeradei) and Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar Park near Comrade Chandrashekhar’s statue in Siwan. The meetings were addressed by well-known dalit leader and Vadgam (Gujarat) MLA Jignesh Mevani, CPIML PB member Kavita Krishnan, AISA National President Sucheta De, former JNUSU President Geeta Kumari, JNUSU President N Sai Balaji and JNUSU Vice President Sarika.
After garlanding Comrade Shyamnarayan’s portrait at Thepha, Kavita Krishnan addressed the meeting and said that after the Babri Masjid demolition Chandrashekhar often used to say that there is a direct clash of two ideologies in the country today. The BJP and Sangh Parivar want to end people’s rights, equality and harmony and establish a fascist Hindu Rashtra in India, while progressive citizens want to build the India of Ambedkar’s and Bhagat Singh’s dreams. She said that the 2019 Lok Sabha election will be a decisive battle between these two ideologies. If we want to build an India of Chandu’s and Shyamnarayan’s dreams, we must fight to oust BJP from Siwan as well as the entire country.
After the meeting, a motor cycle rally led by Lok Sabha candidate from Siwan Comrade Amarnath Yadav and Darauli MLA Satyadev Ram was organized in which hundreds of villagers, students and youth participated. The rally culminated in a meeting at the Ambedkar Park which commenced with the garlanding of Comrade Chandrashekhar’s statue. Addressing the meeting, well-known dalit leader Jignesh Mevani said that Comrade Chandu and Comrade Shyamnarayan are the true inheritors of Bhagat Singh’s legacy who sacrificed themselves for the aspirations of the people. Kavita Krishnan said that the Party would organize countrywide programs on the centenary of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. She pointed out that just as the British fear of Hindu-Muslim unity in India made them perpetrate the brutal massacre at Jallianwala Bagh, the BJP-RSS are also terrified of Hindu-Muslim unity today and are trying to break this unity through polarization. Comrades Sucheta De, N Sai Balaji and Sarika said that the BJP government is hell bent on destroying education and employment in the country and brands anyone who raises questions ‘anti-national’. CPIML PB member Dhirendra Jha said that the CPIML is a party which has emerged as the voice of farmers, workers, dalits, and marginalized sections, and new chapter would be added this time by ensuring the victory of Comrade Amarnath Yadav from Siwan.
The Sankalp sabha, presided over by District Secretary Naeemuddin Ansari, was attended in large numbers by women, agrarian workers, farmers, citizens, and activists of various people’s organizations. After the meeting, the team visited Chandrashekhar’s memorial at his village Bindusar and paid tributes, along with the villagers and family members.
The CPIML election campaign has taken off strongly in every village and locality of Siwan, led by popular leader and Party candidate Comrade Amarnath Yadav.
