SHRI Devnandan Ram passed away on 5 November 2019. He was 90 years old. A resident of Bambhai Panchayat in Bihar, Devnandan Ram was an active member of the CPI from the 60s. His village was in the clutches of feudal oppression and it was a crime for the poor to ask for wages or to sit on their cots at their own doorsteps in the presence of people from dominant sections. They were even forced to vote according to the wishes of the feudal lords.

In 1975 CPI leader Comrade Rajaram Singh stood for the Mukhiya election in Basan Bigaha. Comrade Devnandan Ram and other activists defied the feudal diktat and voted, and Rajaram Singh won the election. In the 80s Comrade Devnandan became associated with the CPIML. His son Madheshwar was in high school when he became interested in Party activities and Devnandan never stopped him from Party activities. Madheshwar faced many deprivations in the course of Party activities but Devnandan never foundered in his support even when his son was jailed for more than a year.

Devnandan Babu is not with us today but will always be remembered as a guardian and guide to the Party. He used to say I am of the Party and will remain with the Party anyway!

Comrade Devnandan Babu will always be in our thoughts and memories as a beacon light and guardian of our struggles. Red Salute to Comrade Devnandan Ram!
