protest against Lynching in Samastipur

Nitish Kumar is doing nothing but carry forward the BJP's hate-filled agenda. On 16 February Khaleel Rizvi in Samastipur district had gone to consult a doctor. When he did not return home till evening, his wife called and spoke to him. As they were talking, someone snatched away Khaleel's mobile. After that the mobile was switched off. On getting no clue, a case was registered on 17 February at the Mushrigharari Thana.

On 18 February the police arrested Vipul Jha on grounds of suspicion. On interrogation of Vipul Jha it came to be known that Rajesh Mishra, Kishan Jha and others had killed Khaleel Rizvi and buried his body in the Vasudevpur Chaur poultry farm campus, from where the police recovered the body. On 19 February Khaleel Rizvi's body was properly buried but a social media video on 21 February shows clearly that he had been lynched and burnt to death.

CPIML legislative party leader Mahboob Alam said that Nitish Kumar has come so completely under the BJP's sway that he is unable even to save a Muslim leader from his own party from being mob-lynched. What is more, the perpetrators of the lynching are goons from his own party, the JDU. The killers enjoy the protection of JDU MLA from Sarai Ranjan and Bihar Education Minister Vijay Chaudhury. The District administration is in denial of the mob lynching and is trying to hide its own weakness by saying this is merely a case of oppression.

A CPIML-Insaf Manch team led by Insaf Manch State Secretary Qayamuddin Ansari visited the victim Khaleel Rizvi's village Ghuraiya in Rupauli Panchayat in Samastipur district on 23 February.

The CPIML has demanded a judicial enquiry into the murder of Mohd Khaleel Rizvi, Rs 20 lakhs be paid as compensation to his family and a government job for one member of his family.

Insaf Manch, CPIML and RYA held a protest on 28 February against the killing of Khaleel Rizvi.

Demand for Speedy Trial and Punishment for Perpetrators of Samastipur Mob Lynching

A CPIML team led by Politburo member Dhirendra Jha and legislative party leader Mahboob Alam visited Musrighararai in Samastipur on 27 February to enquire into the facts of the mob lynching that took place there. The team spoke with the victim's family as well as to residents of Rupauli Burj village. The team then visited the poultry farm in Vasudevpur village in Kalyanpur Block where the victim Khaleel had been held captive and burnt to death.

The CPIML leaders said that the report which has emerged is very worrisome. This is the result of organized actions by inflammatory communal organizations in the Samastipur area and the intention is to create fear in the entire Muslim community in the area.

Under RSS-BJP protection Samastipur is being converted into a hub for the politics of hate and communalism. The CPIML will work to develop all-round resistance to this evil intent.

The mob lynching of 32 year old Khaleel puts a huge question mark on the Nitish government. Khaleel has 3 small children, therefore the government must guarantee a government job for his wife and Rs 20 lakhs compensation immediately, and the matter should be given a high level enquiry and speedy trial.

Khaleel was abducted on 16 February by criminal gangs associated with the RSS and other fanatical organizations and held captive for hours in the garden on the 'chaur' of River Gandak. A video was made and then he was burnt to death. The dead body was buried in a 5 ft pit dug in one of the rooms of the poultry farm. A mixture of salt and urea was found in the pit. So far 4 criminals have been arrested and all of them have had close ties with the RSS and other fanatical organizations.

A speedy trial should be held and the perpetrators of this heinous crime should be punished without delay, and a comprehensive probe should be held into all the communal activities of these criminals. The people, and especially women, of Vasudevpur Fakeerana Tola told the team that the Sahni and Tatma communities feel terrorized by the violent activities of these criminals, all of whom are very active in RSS-BJP campaigns. So far no government team or BJP leader has come to meet the victim's family.
