Dr. BR Remembered on His 67th Death Anniversary

Dr. BR Ambedkar was remembered on his 67th death anniversary at all major centres of party work. Public  meetings, Seminars, Conventions were organised on this occasion in all states including Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh where his contributions towards building an egalitarian India based on social and gender justice was remembered.

The death anniversary of Baba Saheb became an occasion this year to highlight the assault on the constitution and democracy by fascist forces.

CPIML General Secreatry Com. Dipankar, saluting the legacy of Babasaheb Ambedkar on his 67th Death Anniversary said that the Sangh brigade chose this day to stage a coup against the Constitution drafted by Ambedkar and demolish the Babri Masjid in a brazen assault on the rule of law and India's composite culture. Ambedkar had been prophetic when he forewarned us about possible threats to India's constitutional order, terming Hindu Raj as the greatest calamity for India. December 6 therefore beckons us to remember Ambedkar's warnings and resolve to save India from the fascist calamity.

Programmes were organised in Bhojpur, Jamui, Siwan, Bhagalpur and other districts of Bihar where speakers underlined that the rights of freedom of expression, social and educational equality enshrined in the Constitution are under attack. People are suffering from unemployment and price rise. Public Sector Enterprises are being offered on platter to Corporates as economic inequality rises and workers & farmers rights being snatched away. Dalits, adivasis and minorities are being subjected to brutal attacks almost on a regular basis to silence them in submission by casteist feudal forces backed by the Sangh.

In Uttar Pradesh a convention was organised in Lucknow. Addressing the convention speakers stressed that Baba Saheb forewarned that if social and economic justice is not established political democracy won't survive for long in India. In present times, one can observe how the Ambedkar warning is coming true.

Dr. Ambedkar stood for women's rights and resigned from the government on the issue of Hindu Code Bill. He fought against social discrimination and for the right to education and employment of the downtrodden. He was not only a dalit icon but a leader who fought for making India as a modern democratic nation.

In Bagodar, Jharkhand Baba Saheb statue was garlanded and a meeting organised where speakers pointed out that this day is also remembered for the demolition of Babri Masjid by communal forces which was a direct attack on the principle of Secularism adopted in the Constitution.

While remembering Ambedkar, people resolved to defend the democracy and constitution against the ongoing fascist assault as a true mode of paying respect to the great icon of India.
