CPIML – AIPWA Fact-Finding Team Visits Pulwari, Demands Immediate Arrest of Perpetrators in Gangrape of Two Mahadalit Girls Case

A CPI(ML) Liberation – AIPWA fact-finding team visited Hinduni Village in Bihar’s Phulwari on January 10th, 2024 in regard to the incident of gangrape of two Mahadalit minor girls. In the incident, which happened on January 8th, one girl was found murdered and another is battling for her life in AIIMS Patna. The fact-finding headed by CPIML Politburo member and AIPWA General Secretary Com. Meena Tiwari said that there had been criminal negligence on the part of the police and local administration. Even after the incident was reported to police, no immediate action was taken and till now the perpetrators of the crime have not been arrested.

The fact-finding team noted that on the day of the incident, the girls had gone to the nearby village to collect firewood. When they failed to return home, their family members approached the local police station, but the officer refused to take any immediate action and instead made the family wait.

Next day, on January 9th, a local property dealer found them in a naked state on his land. One of girls was murdered and the other was severely injured. According to reports, their bodies bore marks of brutality and stones and metal parts were found inserted in their private parts.

Com. Meena Tiwari said that, if the police had initiated immediate action when the family members informed them about the missing girls, they could have been saved. Clearly, it is the criminal negligence of the police and she urged that strict action be taken against the erring officers. She demanded that immediate steps are needed to nab the perpetrators of this heinous crime. The government must also ensure proper security and medical treatment for the injured girl and compensation should be provided to the families.

CPI(ML) and AIPWA, after meeting the family members and local villages said that the entire issue, including negligence at the part of police will be raised with the Chief Minister. The incidents of sexual violence and lack of action by police is a matter of serious concern and must be immediately addressed by the government to ensure a safe environment for women.
